Dr.Muthulashmi Reddy, an First Woman
Doctor in India and the First Woman
Vice President Of Legislative Council In The World. A noble woman who have
dedicated her life human society especially for women.
Muthulashmi was born in the
pudukkotai state Tamil nadu for S.Narayanawami iyer and Mrs. Chandrammal. Her father
gave her the freedom to go to school, pursue higher studies when it was
officially a crime to send girls out of home. Completed her degree in 1912, she
became housed surgeon in Government Hospital for women and children in Chennai.
She was the First Tamil and Indian Women Doctor.
She moved to England for her higher
studies. In 1926, she was nominated as a member in Madras Legislative and later
she was the elected as deputy Chairman in Legislative Council. And she became
the first women in the world to be a vice president of legislative council.
She was the Founder of Adyar Cancer
Institute on 1954. For her service to human society especially for women she
was awared Padma Bhushan in 1956. She was the greatest inspiration for many
women around the world. Her life was not a lesson but the lamp of light for all
women to pursue their dreams.
